If you are travelling to a
country in the European Union (or to Switzerland, Iceland, Norway or
Liechtenstein), then every person in your group should carry a European Health
Insurance Card (EHIC).
The card, which is free, proves entitlement to the same level of
health care as a citizen of the country you are in, which is not necessarily
the same as you would get here.
However, when combined with travel insurance,
which every passenger should also have, speedy and good treatment should be easily
obtained.
For full details of EHIC, including a link to an
application form, take a look at: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/Introduction.aspx
